DATA ETHICS

Data Ethics at VetPulse

Connecting data across sources carries responsibility.

We build datasets from licensing boards, practice websites, public profiles, geospatial records, and reviews. Connecting those sources reveals things no single one shows — and that carries responsibility.

Our job isn’t just to gather data. It’s to give organizations a market picture they can rely on for hiring, buying practices, and selling to them.

This page explains how we build datasets, what we deliberately don’t do, and why those limits matter for the people who rely on our data.

How We Handle Data

What we work with

information about professional credentials, market structure, and practice capabilities.

What we leave alone

personal information that has nothing to do with the market.

How we handle sources

everything is cross-checked and confidence-scored before it goes into a client deliverable.

Where we draw the line

we stick to business-relevant patterns about the market, not individuals’ private lives.

Our Ethical Foundation

VetPulse builds market intelligence from verifiable, defensible sources and applies governance at every stage of data collection, enrichment, and activation.

We believe:

  • Accuracy is more valuable than speed
  • Validation matters more than volume
  • Context matters more than access

We would rather deliver less data with higher confidence than inflate coverage with unverifiable inputs.

How We Source Data

VetPulse datasets are built from a combination of:

Public regulatory sources

State veterinary licensing boards and other official registries

Public digital footprints

Practice websites, publicly available professional profiles, and published certifications

Commercial and public datasets

Geospatial, demographic, and market structure data used to contextualize supply and demand

All sources are cross-validated, normalized, and confidence-scored before inclusion in any client deliverable.

What We Explicitly Do Not Do

VetPulse draws clear boundaries around data use.

We do not:

Scrape private social networks or gated communities
Collect or sell consumer pet owner data
Sell off-the-shelf contact lists — every dataset is scoped to a client’s question
Create surveillance tools
Infer sensitive personal attributes
Run outreach without explicit client sign-off

These exclusions are intentional. They reduce risk for our clients and ensure VetPulse datasets remain suitable for enterprise, diligence, and operational use.

Use-Case Governance

Design for Purpose

VetPulse is not a self-serve platform.

We build each dataset for a specific decision — not unlimited access to raw data.

Every project is scoped around:

  • The decision you’re making (hiring, buying a practice, selling to one)
  • How the data may and may not be used
  • Sign-off on any outreach we run
  • How the data is handled and who can see it

This keeps the data working as a tool for a decision, not as an indiscriminate outreach machine.

Validation Over Volume

Every dataset VetPulse delivers includes:

  • Source attribution
  • Confidence indicators
  • Known limitations and exclusions

We actively remove records that cannot be validated to our standards, even when doing so reduces apparent coverage.

Accuracy compounds. Bad data creates liability.
