Dr William Kurmes was born and raised in Flagstaff, Arizona. After graduating from Flagstaff High School he received his bachelor's degree from Northern Arizona University before attending Colorado State University School of Veterinary Medicine. He graduated from CSU in 1993 then headed to Chino Valley where he worked for almost five years before returning to Flagstaff and starting Highland House Calls in 1998
