Overview

Compassionate veterinary care within the comfort and peace of home

Dr. April Rogers is a life-long Los Angeles resident, who has had a strong passion for strengthening the bond between people and animals, ever since she was a young girl. By the age of eight, April had already decided that she wanted to become a veterinarian. Growing up around many Senior Citizens and their pets April realized how pets helped her elders remain spry and more youthful. At the age of twelve April got her first chance to work with animals by becoming a pet-sitter for her West Adams neighborhood residents. By the age of sixteen, April was working as a Veterinary Technician Assistant for the Angeles City Pet Hospital through their Summer Youth Employment Program, sponsored by the Trinity Baptist Church. "My beloved mentor, the late Dr. Brannon Woods taught me so much. As a teenager I was already drawing blood, vaccinating pets, placing IV catheters and performing minor procedures while under Dr. Woods' guidance. All throughout my high school and undergraduate education, I continued working weekends and vacations for Dr. Woods' and his practice." April graduated from Hollywood's Immaculate Heart High School in 1999. She went on to earn a Bachelor's degree of Science from the accredited Loyola Marymount University, majoring in Biology and minoring in Biochemistry. From there April then attended Cornell University's College of Veterinary Medicine where she earned her Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine (DVM) in 2007. April continued her training by completing a rotating internship at the California Animal Hospital, where she gained specialty training in Internal Medicine, Cardiology, Neurology, Emergency Medicine and Critical Care. She followed her passion for Emergency Medicine by completing an Emergency and Surgery internship at Animal Urgent Care of Escondido. After completing her training, Dr. April worked for two years as an Emergency Doctor for Advanced Critical Care of Los Angeles, now called ACCESS. "During my years while working in emergency medicine, I realized that so many of the crises that I managed were preventable. I wanted to help educate pet owners about the importance of preventative care so they could avoid the ER." Dr. April’s passion led her to the Veterinary Care Center in Hollywood, where she spent six wonderful years working with families in preventing health crises, and in providing wellness care for their pets and showing them how to effectively manage chronic diseases. "I developed a sincere fondness for my senior patients as well as those younger patients who were battling chronic illnesses." Dr. April’s life-long passion and dreams are now being realized with the launching of her very own practice, "Hollywood Mobile Vet." "With Hollywood Mobile Vet, I can truly meet my patients on their own terms, while greatly reducing the stress and discomfort of my more fragile patients. No stressful trips to the veterinarian's office or waiting in the lobby! I am also looking forward to bringing more awareness to the issue of animal companion health by actively participating in community events throughout the greater Los Angeles area."
