Dr. Meredith Kennedy started her veterinary career at the age of six, going out in the Michigan winter to provide food, water and a hot water bottle for a sick mouse living in the bushes. Since then she's gone to Michigan State University's College of Veterinary Medicine, graduating in 1990. She's had quite a variety of pets over the years, including a retired racehorse in the Virgin Islands called Plane Crash, a pet skunk, Great Danes, a junkyard dog who came from an actual junkyard, a Verreaux's Eagle Owl when she lived in Tanzania, and a tiny antelope called a dik-dik. As a senior veterinary student Dr. Kennedy worked with the State Veterinarian of Zimbabwe, assisting with research on ostrich farming and also on Foot and Mouth Disease in wild antelopes. Her interests in animals, medicine, research, music, theatre and writing have taken her all over the world, including multiple positions with World Learning Inc as an Academic Director (Tanzania, Zanzibar, Botswana and New Zealand), and choir tours with California State Long Beach as a vocal major to China, Italy, Germany, Slovenia and Hungary
