South Bay Animal Hospital + Emergency was founded by Dr. Ravinder Atwal began his journey in medicine in 1993. Growing up on a farm with buffalos, cows, chickens and goats his passion for animal medicine started when he was a small boy. His love for animal medicine and higher education led him to completing doctorate in his home country of India as well as his veterinary schooling at Purdue University also receiving his certification in animal physical therapy rehabilitation at the University of Tennessee. As of 2026 Dr. Atwal has also completed his MBA degree program at The University of Berkeley receiving the Principal Award. Dr. Atwal's dedication to providing modern advanced medicine has led him to dedicate his focus into both Orthopedic surgery and ultrasonography. As a privately owned and operated veterinary family practice Dr. Atwal was proud to announce the addition of his son Dr. Amit Atwal to the practice as an associate veterinarian in 2024. Dr. Amit Atwal graduated from Virginia Maryland College of Veterinary Medicine
