Dr. Belinda Abbott and her husband, Justin Howe, purchased Solvang Animal Hospital and Wellness Center in March 2022. Having moved to Santa Barbara from Sunset Beach in 2015, the opportunity to become owners of a practice close to home couldn't have come at a better time, as Dr. Abbott was commuting weekly to both Huntington Beach and Hollywood, where she had established more than a decade's worth of roots as a practicing veterinarian. The first order of business to make the practice their own was to change the name of the business from Solvang Veterinary Hospital to Solvang Animal Hospital and Wellness Center. Whereas a hospital is often looked at simply as a place that houses the sick and injured, the term 'wellness' emphasizes strength, vitality, long-term recovery, and a positive outlook on future health, reflecting the couple's philosophy and purpose
