Overview

At Valley Veterinary Hospital we know your pet is a part of the family. We are committed to providing our clients and patients with the highest quality care while maintaining the feel and comfort of a small family practice. As your pet's advocate, we hope that you will feel a part of your companion's treatment process. The welfare of your pet is our top priority, not the bottom line

Dr. John Summar has years of experience treating many kinds of animals in many types of practices. He was raised on a cattle ranch and worked for mixed animal practices in Oklahoma and Texas both before and after graduating from Oklahoma State University College of Veterinary Medicine in 1985. In 1988 he bought a mixed animal veterinary practice in Conifer, Colorado where he treated dogs, cats, horses, cattle, llamas, and goats, among other species. During this time he also worked overnight shifts as an emergency veterinarian in Denver's Central Veterinary Emergency Hospital. A 1994 graduate of the University of Denver's College of Law, Dr. Summar is a member of the Colorado Bar but he prefers practicing veterinary medicine over being an attorney! He temporarily left Colorado to become a veterinarian for the Honolulu Zoo and enjoyed the challenge of treating a variety of animals; from birds and frogs to elephants and rhinos. Upon returning to the mainland, he then joined a very busy small animal and exotic animal private practice in Centennial where he practiced for over 14 years. In April of 2017, Dr. Summar opened his own practice, Valley Veterinary Hospital in the Bear Valley area of Denver
