Dr. Shull grew up in a small town in Ohio. He has always had a love of working with animals but was limited to helping friends with their animals. When he graduated high school and had to decide on a career, veterinary medicine seemed like too much school. He tried to think of something else to pursue but everything led him back to becoming a veterinarian. Dr. Shull attended veterinary school at The Ohio State University. He has an undergraduate degree in Animal Science as well as his Doctor Of Veterinary Medicine from Ohio State. After graduation he did a year long internship at Pioneer Equine Hospital in Oakdale California. At the end of his internship he took a job at Sweet River Equine in Modesto California where he worked for about 1 1/2 years. His dad had passed away and he decided he wanted to move closer to family and he moved back to Ohio. He only stayed for about 3 months, however, before he moved west again. He moved to Montrose where he worked at San Juan Veterinary Clinic for about 1 1/2 years before starting Western Slope Equine Hospital. He practiced strictly equine medicine and surgery for about 10 years before expanding his services to small animals. That is when the name of the clinic changed to Western Slope Animal Hospital
