Over 20 years ago Dr. Thannum opened Extra Care with one goal, to provide exceptional care to our community and their pets. Dr. Thannum from a young age knew her passion for helping animals after seeing her father, a veterinarian, help so many. Her father instilled many of her current values and ethics that she carries with her in her personal and professional life. Driven to help as many animals and families as she could, Dr. Thannum went to and graduated from the University of Wisconsin Madison School of Veterinary Medicine, leaving with her dream to open her own clinic stronger than ever. However, it was at her post-grad internship that Dr. Thannum found her passion for internal medicine and surgery. Eventually, after years of tireless work she was able to purchase Extra Care Animal Hospital in 2004 fulfilling her life-long dream. The hard work did not stop for Dr. Thannum as she took on more staff, hiring only those she would trust her own pet's care with. Through this process she was able to build a business that provides a truly exception standard of care to all that walk through our door, client and patients alike. Her continuous goal for excellence has allowed Extra Care to stand strong for 20+ years, helping countless pets, families and our community; while also establishing loyal clientele that have been with us since we opened our doors and without whom we would not have succeeded
