In 1980, Dr. Wenke started his practice in South Florida as a Veterinarian treating horses in Dade and Broward County. In 1985, Dr. Wenke built the first Town & Country Animal Hospital at the Country Walk Shopping Plaza. Dr. Mordaunt joined him in 1990 as Veterinarian in charge of Medical and Surgical Services. When Hurricane Andrew destroyed Country Walk and the first Town & Country Animal Hospital, Dr. Wenke designed and built the new Town & Country Animal Hospital at its current location. In 1997, Dr. Wenke was acknowledged for his unique and innovative design concepts and Town & Country Animal Hospital received national recognition for design excellence as the 1997 Animal Hospital of the Year
