Overview

Volusia County’s ONLY Cat-Exclusive Animal Hospital. At Cat Care Clinic, cats aren’t just our patients—they’re our passion. As Volusia County’s only animal hospital devoted exclusively to feline care, we’ve spent years perfecting the art of keeping cats healthy, happy, and stress-free. From playful kittens to wise senior cats, we embrace the fact that every feline deserves compassionate, tailored care. Our Cat Friendly Practice accreditation and team of board-certified feline veterinarians (including ABVP certification) mean your cat is in expert hands, whether they’re here for a routine wellness visit or something more complex

Cat Care Clinic was founded by Dr. Leslie Nixon and her husband, John Nixon, in a small shopping plaza on Granada Boulevard. In 2005, growing demand for our services led us to relocate to a purpose-built, 4,000-square-foot facility on Yonge Street. This new space enabled us to expand our team, welcome more patients, and introduce advanced technology and treatments to better serve our feline friends. What began with just three team members has flourished into a skilled, compassionate group of 17. Today, our team includes five veterinarians, nine technical staff members, three receptionists, and a dedicated practice manager, all focused on delivering stress-free, expert feline care. In 2015, Cat Care Clinic transitioned into the capable hands of Dr. Amber Carter and her husband, Kenny Carter. Dr. Carter, who first joined the clinic as an associate veterinarian in 2007, brought her extensive experience and deep passion for feline health. By 2018, Dr. Carter achieved board certification in Feline Practice by the American Board of Veterinary Practitioners (ABVP), continuing a legacy set by Dr. Nixon. Dr. Carter is currently the only ABVP board-certified feline practitioner in Florida

What reviewers say

90% Positive sentiment
based on 656 reviews

This specialized feline-only veterinary practice provides a remarkably calm, low-stress environment free of barking dogs, making it exceptionally well-suited for anxious cats. The facility is widely regarded as clean, comfortable, and well-maintained. A dedicated team of veterinarians and support staff demonstrates deep expertise in feline medicine, offering thorough examinations, detailed explanations, and individualized care plans. Clients frequently highlight compassionate end-of-life support, excellent surgical care, and consistent follow-up communication. While the specialized services command higher pricing than general practices, many find the high quality of care and feline-centric expertise well worth the investment. Scheduling and front desk experiences can occasionally present minor friction, but the overall standard of clinical care and compassionate handling remains exceptionally high.
