Overview

We operate similarly to a human specialty medical center and are passionate about offering the best care possible for your cat, dog, exotic animal, horse, cow, goat or other farm animal. Your animal will be cared for by a talented and diverse team that consists of licensed veterinarians (i.e., an intern, resident, and/or a board-certified faculty member), senior veterinary students, veterinary nurses, and hospital staff members. We bring years of experience to each case, and because we are a teaching hospital, we have a vast and highly specialized knowledge base from which to draw answers. We also have state-of-the-art diagnostic equipment and offer advanced treatment options

Mission — At the University of Georgia College of Veterinary Medicine, we heed the call to go above and beyond for people and animals. Our core mission is to train the future generation of veterinarians and bring world-class education to passionate students. But we push beyond the expected scope of a college of veterinary medicine -we managed COVID testing for South Georgia, support our students with a network of relentless care and more. When we see an opportunity for our research, educators, facilities and technology to be activated, you know UGA VetMed will be there

What reviewers say

70% Positive sentiment
based on 541 reviews

This university teaching hospital provides advanced veterinary medicine, emergency care, and specialty services. The medical teams and veterinary students are widely regarded as highly knowledgeable, thorough, and compassionate, successfully handling complex cases, critical surgeries, and exotic animal care. While the standard of care is frequently described as exceptional, clients note that pricing is on the expensive side, wait times can be extensive, and communication from administrative personnel or after-hours channels can occasionally present challenges.
