Good Karma Spay and Neuter Clinic is named for Dr. Kris' first cat, Karma (1992-2010). Dr. Kris was born and raised in Hilo, Hawaii and left for college right after graduating from Hilo High School. She earned a BA in Psychology from the University of Puget Sound (Tacoma, Washington) and a PhD in Biopsychology (areas of study including Neuroscience, Behavior Genetics, Psychopharmacology, Drugs of Addiction and Learning) at University at Albany, SUNY. She went on to earn her Veterinary degree at Purdue University (Indiana) in 2004. She moved home to Hawaii and worked for over 3 years with Dr. Stephen Poleshuk at his private practice Keauhou Veterinary Clinic until he sold it. She then worked at the Hawaii Island Humane Society as the Lead Veterinarian for 11 years during which time she earned a Masters' of Science with emphasis in Shelter Medicine from University of Florida, College of Veterinary Medicine
