Overview

Dr. Sheila Carpenter, DVM and Dr. LaToya Bryant lead a team of expert professionals providing compassionate healthcare for cats and dogs. We're a full service hospital offering payments plans to help you budget the care your pets need

Auburn has anchored the corner of 83rd Street and Ashland Avenue for 75 years. During that period, a line of respected veterinarians dedicated their careers to this neighborhood gem. We're one of the oldest businesses in the neighborhood, and we've welcomed hundreds of pets into our family. Throughout our history, we've remained committed to caring for cats and dogs, the cherished members of our clients' families. We've built our reputation one client at a time, treating your pet as an extended member of our family. Generations of pets, the sons and daughters of some of our favorite pets, receive primary care at Auburn. In August of 1999, Sheila Carpenter purchased Auburn Animal Hospital from a Tuskegee graduate who had owned the prestigious Auburn Animal Hospital for nearly 25 years. That owner had purchased Auburn from another veterinarian, who had been in the community for at least 30 years. Auburn has a 75-year history on the corner of Ashland and 83rd and has been under African American management that whole time

What reviewers say

70% Positive sentiment
based on 262 reviews

Auburn Animal Hospital offers dedicated veterinary care with a highly knowledgeable and compassionate lead veterinarian and supporting team who are exceptionally good with anxious pets. The practice is often able to accommodate same-day appointments and provides thorough explanations of pet conditions, though some visitors experience challenges with front desk communication, facility age, and pricing transparency. The clinic handles routine care, vaccinations, and end-of-life support with great empathy, but refers major emergencies elsewhere and lacks advanced diagnostic equipment on-site.
