Overview

Shelby Veterinary Service in Shelbyville, IL is a full service animal hospital. It is our commitment to provide quality veterinary care throughout the life of your companion animals, as well as your production animals. Our services and facilities are designed to assist in routine preventive care for young, healthy animals; early detection and treatment of disease as your animal ages; and complete medical and surgical care as necessary during his or her lifetime

Dr. John Brix and his wife, Sandy, purchased a home and a 500 square foot bait shop on State Route 128 in Shelbyville the spring of 1980. After demolishing minnow tanks and remodeling the building, Brix Veterinary Service opened in July 1980. Sandy and Dr. Brix were the only two employees, until January of 1981. In 1985, the practice had grown to having two veterinarians. The present day 5,400 square foot clinic was constructed that summer. At that time, 70% of the clinic's revenue was generated by large animal medicine. Through the years, the clinic has improved radiology, added an in-house laboratory, expanded anesthesia, dental and surgery capabilities, and performs large and small animal ultrasound. In 2009, Dr. Morrow started working part-time at Brix Veterinary Service. In 2016, Dr. Brix and Dr. Morrow formed a partnership; and then in November of 2018, Dr. Morrow became the sole owner. The clinic underwent a name change on January 1, 2020 to Shelby Veterinary Service. Today, the clinic has transitioned to an appointment system and automated client communication. Currently, 70% of the clinic revenue is generated by small animal medicine

Mission — Our goal is to practice the highest quality medicine and surgery with compassion and an emphasis on client education. Our entire healthcare team is committed to providing personal attention to the unique concerns of each individual animal owner
