Overview
At Athens Animal Clinic we care for your pets with the same understanding and compassion we would want for ourselves. Our patients are each valued as individuals and are treated as if they were our own. We are a family run business that has been a part of the community since 1971. Our waiting room is very homey and doesn't feel like a veterinarian office. We consider our clients and patients a part of our own family. We love nostalgia and all things classic and timeless
After having moved to Columbus, IN from Illinois, Dr. Wes Robinson opened up a new veterinary clinic in 1971. The first location for the newly established Athens Animal Clinic was on SR #11 just north of Bulldog Lanes at what used to be called the Paylakes. The practice grew quickly and in the early part of 1972, a brand new building was finished closer to downtown just north of the 8th Street bridge at the present location today. Dr. Robinson worked as a sole practitioner for many years but had several associates come and go until Dr. Brooke Case came back home to Bartholomew County after having graduated from the Purdue School of Veterinary Medicine in May 1986. She became an associate veterinarian with Dr. Robinson until she purchased the practice in 2001. Dr. Robinson helped in the transition but eventually moved to Freeport, IL with his wife Joyce. On June 7, 2008, Athens Animal Clinic was severely damaged by flooding that effected Bartholomew County and Columbus. We were fortunate to be able to continue serving some of our clients needs by operating out of 4 Paws Palace Boarding Kennel and working closely with other veterinary clinics in the area. After being displaced for 3 ½ months, we were able to return to our home location on September 22, 2008. Out of the muddy waters, we were able to return to a remodeled facility and continue to care for our clients and their beloved pets as we have for the past 40 years
