Dr. John McAfee founded McAfee Animal Hospital in 1943. He graduated from Michigan State University and started out as a 100% large animal veterinarian. He added evening hours in 1948 from 7-8pm Mon, Wed, & Fri to treat small animals. John was a sole practitioner until 1975 when he added his son Larry as a junior partner. John retired in 1983. Dr. Larry McAfee joined his father in 1975, at that time the practice was 60% small animal and 40% large animal. His father retired in 1983. The practice slowly evolved from large animal to completely small animal. In 2012, Dr. Larry retired after 37 years. Dr. Brooke McAfee-Clements continues the third generation of McAfee veterinarians, graduating from Purdue University School of Veterinary Medicine in 2011. She is now a junior partner with her Dad and Dr. Steve. Dr. Steve Violanti joined the practice in 1990 after graduating from Purdue University School of Veterinary Medicine. In 1996, Dr. Steve became junior partner and in 1999 became a full partner with Dr. Larry. Currently the practice is a popular, progressive, pet oriented facility located in N.W. Indiana. We have been AAHA certified since 1986
