Overview

As a full-service veterinary hospital, Todd County Animal Clinic provides a complete range of health and wellness services for small and large animals

1928: VT Rose graduates vet school from Kansas State and moves to Elkton, Kentucky to begin Rose Veterinary Services. Over the next forty years, Dr. Rose was known as an innovator in his field and was known for his professionalism and medical standards. He enjoyed a long and successful career in Todd County. During his tenure, he built a state of the art large animal facility right off of East Main St and later built the 205 E Main building that was occupied until 2021. 1963: Dr. George D. Brown graduated from Auburn University and began his career in Murfreesboro, Tennessee. 1964: Dr. Brown and his family moved to Todd County from Tennessee and began the Todd County Animal Clinic. Within the year, Dr. Brown purchased Dr. Rose practice and incorporated into Todd County Animal Clinic. 1964 - 2008: Dr. Brown owned and operated a very successful practice at the East Main location. He was a very well known and highly respected veterinarian in the field. His family also farmed and owned a tobacco warehouse in Russellville, Kentucky. He and Mrs. Betty had four children, several of whom still live in the area. 2002: John Laster went to work for Dr. George Brown at Todd County Animal Clinic as a kennel and large animal tech. 2008-2012: Dr. John and Dr. Cory attend Auburn University’s College of Veterinary Medicine together and become close friends. 2013: Dr. Brown and Mrs. Betty Brown met with John and Kayla to discuss opening Todd County Animal Clinic back up in Auburn, Alabama. A deal was struck and on May 19th, 2013 Dr. Laster did a house call for Ollie Norrid in Hopkinsville. Greg Norrid was our first client and Ollie was our first patient. 2013 - 2016: Dr. John grew the practive on nights and weekends while he worked full time for the Hatcher Family in College Grove, TN. The Hatcher Family provided equipment and medication to help John build the practice. 2019: Cory joined the practice full time in the summer of 2019. July 10, 2021: The clinic grand opening occurred and the new location was unveiled. The site of the current clinic was part of Shelby Laster’s farm; John Laster’s grandfather
