Overview

For more than 30 years, the Animal Health Clinic of Funkstown has provided compassionate, personalized veterinary care for dogs and cats throughout Washington County and the surrounding Maryland communities. As an independently owned, AAHA-Accredited, Fear Free Certified, and Certified Cat-Friendly Practice veterinary hospital, we're committed to providing exceptional medical care while making every visit as calm and comfortable as possible for both pets and their families

The Animal Health Clinic of Funkstown is a full-service, privately owned veterinary hospital serving dogs and cats throughout Washington County and the surrounding communities. In 2026, longtime veterinarians Dr. Tara Cumley and Dr. Marie Sausen proudly became the owners of the practice after years of caring for generations of our patients and their families. They are honored to continue the hospital's longstanding tradition of providing compassionate, personalized veterinary care that was established by founder Dr. Virginia Scrivener when she opened the practice in 1993

Mission — We believe good medicine never stands still. That's why our team is dedicated to lifelong learning, evidence-based medicine, and continually finding better ways to care for our patients. Whether your pet needs preventive care, surgery, dentistry, diagnostics, or treatment for illness, we combine decades of experience with today's best veterinary practices to help pets live longer, healthier, and happier lives
