Holistic Veterinary Healing (HVH) was the brainchild of Dr. Deb Mallu (then known as Dr. Pema Mallu) and Dr. Kitty Raichura. In May of 2013, they were both working at a holistic veterinary hospital in Bethesda, MD, and they began to dream of opening their own hospital in an area of the county where holistic medicine was less accessible. HVH opened on December 26, 2013, with just 3 staff members and high hopes for an integrative hospital that would care for cats and dogs, and sometimes rabbits, mind, body, and spirit. Sadly, Dr. Kitty was only able to live this dream until March 2016, when she died from an aneurysm and subsequent stroke. The HVH team has grown to include a 2nd part-time veterinarian, Dr. Ying Ngo, 11 staff members, and 2 part-time interns. HVH became AAHA accredited in 2021. The HVH team promotes educating future veterinarians and vet assistants and provides loving and compassionate care to their patients in memory of Dr. Kitty
