Overview

Providing quality and affordable care to our clients and patients is our top priority

Summit Veterinary Services has been proudly serving mid-Missouri for more than 30 years under the leadership and ownership of Dr. Dean Bates, DVM, and Stacey Bates, Practice Management Director. The Bates family has strong roots and ties to the heartland. Dr. Bates, who was raised on his family farm in St. Elizabeth, and his wife Stacey, both attended college locally with Dr. Bates earning his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from the University of Missouri College of Veterinary Medicine in Columbia and Stacey graduating from William Woods University in Fulton with a degree in Equestrian Studies. The Bates' two children, Deanna and Nathan, are following in the family's medical footsteps, with Deanna a small animal veterinarian in Tulsa, Oklahoma and Nathan attending medical school at the University of Kansas Medical School in Salina, Kansas. The practice, which began operation in 1995 in the 'small white house across the street from the local grocery store' as the Bates fondly recall it, has grown to include nearly a dozen veterinary technicians, kennel technicians and client educators. In 1998, the Bates relocated the practice to the clinic's current location 197 Hickory Lane in Holts Summit, Missouri a 2,500 square-foot small animal and equine hospital, with a cattle facility built in 2015. In 2020, Summit Veterinary Services expanded the practice once again with the grand opening of a 6,000 square-foot facility, enhancing the clinic's ability to care for patients by increasing capacity for boarding, surgery, patient care, and client services
