What I most love about our practice is that this very modern, very progressive veterinary hospital is nestled in this small-town community On Roanoke Island. The warm, small town atmosphere is one of the aspects we like most about our practice. But don't be fooled by this. We offer some of the most modern veterinary medicine, diagnostics, and surgery available

Dr Grossman and Dr Burkart met at Virginia Tech in their first year of veterinary school in 1984. After graduating from veterinary school they both pursued Master's Degrees at the University of Georgia. Dr Burkart in Medical Microbiology and Dr Grossman in toxicology. Upon receiving their Master's Degrees, they began their careers in clinical veterinary medicine working in a small animal practice in Columbia SC. During a vacation to the Outer Banks, they found a small 'hole-in-the-wall' 650 sq ft clinic that was for sale on Roanoke Island. Taking a risk to live in a region they had always loved, they purchased the clinic in 1992 and moved their now family of 6 here to the Outer Banks. At that time, the then Airdraie Animal Hospital became the Roanoke Island Animal Clinic. And as they say 'the rest is history'! With pure dedication, long hours, and a deep love for their profession and this community, in 1995, this small 650 square foot clinic became the 4,500 square foot full service facility they enjoy today
