The late Dr. H. D. Blackwelder started a mixed animal practice in 1971 and in 1984, divided the business and founded Statesville Bovine and Equine Clinic, focusing exclusively on large animals. In 2001 his son, Dr. Travis Blackwelder, joined the practice and is now primarily focused on sport horse and western performance lameness and medicine

Mission — To provide the highest level of veterinary care to the equine athlete without sacrificing the one on one interaction with each individual client
