Overview

Casselton Veterinary Service is a full-service veterinary medical facility, located in Casselton, North Dakota, just 15 minutes west of the Fargo Moorhead area. The professional and courteous staff at Casselton Veterinary Service seeks to provide the best possible animal medical care, surgical care and dental care for their highly-valued patients. We are committed to promoting responsible pet ownership, preventative health care and health-related educational opportunities for our clients. Casselton Veterinary Service strives to offer excellence in veterinary care to Fargo Moorhead, Casselton, North Dakota and surrounding areas

The first veterinarian in Casselton was Dr. Montgomery, who worked out of his home from the late 1940s to the early 1950s. In 1953, Dr. Art Roseberg moved to town and set up a clinic on Front Street, in the area near Dan’s Barbershop. In 1957, Dr. Jim Holter joined Dr. Roseberg, and in 1959, Dr. Roseberg left Casselton to start a clinic in West Fargo. Dr. Dick Roth joined Dr. Holter in 1963, and in the spring of 1970, they built a new clinic on the south side of town—the site of our current location. Dr. Mark Wieland joined Dr. Roth in 1980 and purchased half of the practice in 1983, followed by Dr. Dave Calderwood, who bought the other half in 1984. Dr. Brad Bartholomay became the third partner in 1990. In 1997, the clinic expanded, adding more small animal exam rooms, a treatment area, and remodeling the bovine and equine areas. Another 20,000 sq. ft. was added in 2005, expanding the small animal and equine surgical suite. Drs. Laurie Huckle and Darin Peterson joined as partners in 2008, with Dr. Trevor Bjerke joining in 2012. In 2019, Casselton Veterinary Service took another step forward by opening a second location in Fargo, North Dakota, allowing us to serve more clients and make high-quality veterinary care more accessible. Continuing this tradition of growth, in 2023 Dr. Jill Dowdle became another owner of the clinic, strengthening our leadership and commitment to excellence. Today, Casselton Veterinary Service remains one of the largest clinics in North Dakota, dedicated to providing advanced medical treatment and exceptional care for both our large and small animal clients. We are proud of our history and excited for the future as we continue to grow and evolve with our community
