Overview

The Cat Doctor of Dover is a cats-only veterinary hospital in Dover, NH, dedicated to providing compassionate, high-quality care tailored specifically to feline patients. Since 2001, our team has focused exclusively on feline medicine, offering services such as wellness care, diagnostics, dentistry, and advanced treatment in a calm, low-stress environment designed just for cats

Our founder, Dr. Joann Young, began her veterinary career in Washington State, but in 2000 returned to her New England roots with idea to create a cats-only veterinary practice from the ground up. To begin her “from scratch” concept, a site was selected on Watson Road, just outside of downtown Dover, near the community crossroads. Dr. Young hired a prestigious architecture firm specializing in the creation of veterinary practices. Attention to detail was paramount, in layout, atmosphere, and accessibility. The Cat Doctor of Dover opened its doors in 2001. For seventeen years, Dr. Young was The Cat Doctor, building a cherished and loyal clientele of cat owners from throughout the surrounding communities. In 2009, Dr. Sharon Davis joined the busy practice to help out part-time, and over time became a recognized and trusted fixture in The Cat Doctor family. Working alongside Dr. Young for a decade, Dr. Davis embodies philosophies of medicine and business very similar to Dr. Young’s. Embracing this continuity, in 2018 Dr. Davis took over the hospital for Dr. Young, who retired from practice in 2019. Dr. Davis and the familiar Cat Doctor team carry on the tradition of excellence in care founded in The Cat Doctor of Dover from the beginning
