Overview

The NHVDL assists the NH Commissioner of Agriculture and State Veterinarian in their efforts to monitor and control important animal diseases. We contribute to the academic, research and outreach missions of the University of New Hampshire College of Life Sciences and Agriculture. For over 50 years, veterinarians and stakeholders from around NH and the New England region have used our histopathology, cytology, microbiology, serology, and necropsy services for the diagnosis of animal diseases from pets, livestock, wildlife, research, aquatic and zoo animals

Mission — The New Hampshire Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratory (NHVDL) will work at the junction of animal health, public health, environmental health and economic health. The NHVDL will provide accessible, timely and accurate diagnostic services for the NH Department of Agriculture Markets & Foods (NHDAMF) and to our veterinary clients, farmers, public health, wildlife, and other relevant state, regional, and federal agencies. Located at the University of New Hampshire, the NHVDL will also contribute to the education of students seeking training in the biomedical sciences
