Tender Loving Cats Cares is a community-powered organization dedicated to protecting and advocating for cats in need, guided by compassion, collaboration, and responsible care. At Tender Loving Veterinary Clinic, a program of Tender Loving Cats Cares, we focus on affordable spay and neuter services that promote feline health and help prevent overpopulation. Dr. Gay Senk, our founding veterinarian, is a pioneering leader in the feline rescue community and a lifelong advocate for the Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR) movement. A 1978 graduate of the University of Georgia College of Veterinary Medicine, she began her career in equine practice before dedicating herself to addressing the growing crisis of free-roaming cats. Through decades of collaboration with nonprofit rescue organizations, Dr. Senk helped shape humane cat welfare on Long Island by pioneering low-cost vaccination events, organizing free TNR spay/neuter clinics, educating municipal leaders and the public, and founding an affordable, feline-focused veterinary clinic. She also created the Long Island Cat Project, unifying regional TNR efforts and helping secure free spay/neuter services for feral cats at all Nassau County municipal shelters

Inspired by the tireless dedication of rescuers, the needs of underserved pet owners, and a shared determination to end the suffering caused by overpopulation, our clinic exists to make a meaningful difference one animal at a time. By providing accessible, affordable, and compassionate spay and neuter, we strive to reduce suffering and help build a healthier, kinder community for animals and the people who love them
