Battenkill Veterinary Equine was founded in 1984 as a part of the Battenkill Veterinary Group by Dr. Kurt Lutgens. As the practice grew to include 21 veterinarians the three practices of Battenkill Veterinary separated into separate corporations. Growth in the equine practice necessitated the opening of the Equine Medicine and Surgery facility in 1995
