Overview

Hypurrcat is a treatment facility dedicated solely to treating hyperthyroid cats with radioactive iodine (radioiodine, I-131). Founded by Dr. Mark E. Peterson, the preeminent authority in feline hyperthyroidism, Hypurrcat's reputation for providing high quality, specialized, and compassionate care has earned it international acclaim

Dr. Peterson and his team first documented feline hyperthyroidism just 45 years ago, and it is now recognized as the most common hormonal disorder in domestic cats. In 1980, Dr. Peterson was the first to use radioiodine to successfully treat cats with the disorder. In 2001, Dr. Peterson founded Hypurrcat, a radioiodine treatment center for hyperthyroid cats in Bedford Hills, New York. In 2005, Dr. Peterson relocated Hypurrcat to a larger space in Bedford Hills and also founded the Animal Endocrine Clinic. The Bedford Hills office was closed in early 2020. In 2009, Dr. Peterson opened an office on the Upper West Side of Manhattan in New York City

Mission — As cat owners and cat lovers ourselves, all of us at Hypurrcat are dedicated to providing superior veterinary care, as well as daily environmental enrichment. We strive to be mindful of your cat's experience and treat him or her with the same gentleness and tender touch that we would want for our own cats. At Hypurrcat, our enduring mission is to be nothing less than the best radioiodine treatment center for hyperthyroid cats in the world
