Overview

Founded in 1904, the Humane Society of New York is a nonprofit veterinary hospital and no-kill shelter dedicated to making high-quality, affordable veterinary care accessible to those who need it most

Founded in 1904 to aid the city’s working horses with water troughs, new shoes, blankets, and rest, the Humane Society of New York has continually evolved to meet changing needs. Today, we provide medical care for dogs and cats in our hospital and sanctuary in the Vladimir Horowitz and Wanda Toscanini Horowitz Adoption Center

Mission — On any given day the Humane Society of New York is responsible for hundreds of animals with diverse needs. For many, the Society is the only place they will find help. We believe that the emotional and physical needs of the animals are equally as important as medical care. Our programs work to reduce the number of unwanted homeless pets and animal suffering while preventing future life-threatening medical conditions
