Overview

Welcome to Coldwater Animal Clinic where we strive to provide exceptional veterinary medical care in a compassionate and caring environment. We know your pets are family members, and we treat them as such

Coldwater Animal Clinic was founded in 1944 by Dr. Norman Slavik, who was later joined in practice by his brother, Dr. Jim Slavik. The first clinic was built on East Vine Street in Coldwater. The clinic continued to grow with Dr. Norman Slavik II joining in 1972, Dr. Dan Hellwarth in 1979, and Dr. Urban Seger joining in 1988. Continued growth led to the opening of a satellite small animal clinic on Greenville Rd in Saint Marys, Ohio in 1988. Additionally, in1994, ongoing expansion encouraged the building of the current clinic on Harvest Drive in Coldwater. Dr. Bret Rochotte joined the practice in 1998 and remains an owner and practicing vet. In 2007, Coldwater Animal Clinic and Fort Recovery Veterinary Center merged at which time Dr. Kimberly Forthofer-Braun joined the existing team as an owner and practicing vet working primarily from the Fort Recovery clinic. Dr. Becky Pentecost joined the practice team in 2013 followed by Dr. Shawn Ryan in 2015 and Dr. Angie Koesters in 2021. All three are owners and practicing veterinarians. We are excited to have Dr. Amanda Lochtefeld joining as an associate veterinarian in 2025
