Overview
Columbus Humane is a 501(c)(3) Public Charity. Our mission is to fight animal cruelty, help animals in need and advocate for their well-being
The Humane Society was founded in 1883 by two teachers, Louise Phillips and Harriet Brocklehurst, along with several prominent community leaders. In December 1883, the Humane Society of Columbus was incorporated. In September 1973, the name was changed to Capital Area Humane Society. In September 1992, the organization moved into the present shelter at 3015 Scioto-Darby Executive Court, Hilliard, OH. In September 2017, it was rebranded to Columbus Humane. Renovations to improve quality of life for animals were completed in October 2018
