The Visiting Veterinarian was founded in 1985 by Dr. David Newsome, inspired by a strong commitment to provide high-quality and accessible veterinary care to his local community. What began as a modest effort offering care from his home and a minivan gradually grew with the support of the community and a shared commitment to animal well-being. In time, Dr. Newsome established a permanent full service clinic on Broadway in Edmond, Oklahoma, located along the historic Route 66. With over 40 years of experience caring for dogs and cats, Dr. Newsome continues to serve with the same compassion and integrity that built the practice. His son, Dr. Derek Newsome, has since joined him, proudly continuing the family legacy. Together, they provide personalized, attentive care to second- and even third-generation clients with the same warmth and commitment that have defined the practice from the start
