Overview

Saving animals from neglect, abandonment, and abuse through rescue, rehabilitation, and adoption. Serving our community of pet owners, regardless of socioeconomic status, through innovative and accessible pet care resources

Founded in 1906 to provide a haven for homeless animals and to prevent cruelty to both animals and children. July 7, 2022 marks a day of great change here on Dixon Street. For over 100 years we have been known as The Lehigh County Humane Society. However, as we have continued to advance throughout the years to rescue animals and serve families beyond the boundaries of Lehigh County, we knew we needed a name that reflects who we are today and what we have yet to become. In addition to our new name, we are proud to unveil our new logo. It is inspired by our very own CEO’s beloved pets, Six and Gabby, both adopted from the Lehigh Valley Humane Society. Six and Gabby are icons and represent every cherished soul we embrace, signifying our commitment to ensure the health, happiness and prosperity of every animal that passes through our doors. Today, we're celebrating our commitment to serving the people and pets of the Lehigh Valley and beyond. With great joy, we'd like to re-introduce ourselves as The Lehigh Valley Humane Society!

What reviewers say

70% Positive sentiment
based on 1,322 reviews

The practice features a clean, modern facility with a dedicated veterinary clinic and shelter services. The staff is widely regarded as compassionate, knowledgeable, and patient, particularly when handling anxious or reactive pets. Services such as vaccinations, spay and neuter procedures, grooming, and adoptions are offered at affordable prices compared to private hospitals. While many experience smooth and positive adoption processes, some encounter communication barriers, phone responsiveness issues, and occasional long wait times.
