Overview

Welcome to Betlem Veterinary Services! I’m Dr. Dustin Betlem. I want to provide the best possible care for your animal family members. My goal is to help you with everything from first puppy and kitten visit to end of life care to help them cross the Rainbow Bridge. Along the way, I will be here to help with diet and husbandry concerns for your pets, general surgery if needed as well as tackling any other problem they might encounter

Growing up in Western Pennsylvania, and having very understanding, pet friendly, parents sparked a passion in me to learn about and help care for every animal I possibly could as a boy. After graduating from Burgettstown High School, I went off to earn a degree in Pre-Veterinary Medicine from the University of Findlay in Findlay, Ohio. While in undergrad there, I met my wife to be, Bridgette, and many great friends and brothers being part of Theta Chi Fraternity. Graduating with honors was a goal I set for myself. I graduated from the University of Findlay Suma Cum Laude. After graduation from the University of Findlay, Bridgette and I lived in Starkville, Mississippi where I attended Mississippi State University - College of Veterinary Medicine while she attended the Mississippi University for Women's nursing school. While living in the south, earning our medical degrees, we again enjoyed learning about the local wildlife. We took small trips to the coast and surrounding states to visit places such as the beautiful Georgia Aquarium. Once we finished our schooling we moved back to PA. I started my professional career at Moon Veterinary Hospital under the most experienced and helpful hands of Dr. J. Ashby Marshall and his other wonderful associates. While working there, I developed my exotic animal skills, as well as, learned orthopedic surgery. During my time at Moon I married Bridgette. After several wonderful years at Moon, I accepted an associate vet position at Hilltop Animal Hospital where I had the privilege to hone my medical and surgical skills. Moving to Burgettstown was so nostalgic! I started my veterinary career working for Hilltop and Dr. Mark Ferris back in high school. It was also nice to be close to my other former jobs such as Iannetti's Garden Center and Little Critters of Weirton. We moved back to Burgettstown and across the lane from my wonderful parents, Mark and Jo and started our family. Now begins the next chapter in our lives as we start Betlem Veterinary Services and raise our three young boys, Mark, Jack and John. The boys love spending time outdoors and going to work with Daddy in our new office. They love going with me to the Carnegie Museum of Natural History, while I care for their living collection. They are my special helpers to care for the expansive exotic animal collection at West Liberty University. Thank you for choosing Betlem Veterinary Services! Your patronage and business is deeply appreciated and I am excited to embark on this adventure with you
