Through the years, we’ve grown from an after-hours emergency hospital into a nationally recognized emergency, critical care, and specialty center. For over 25 years, we’ve provided specialty and emergency care to Western Pennsylvania and the tri-state area at our Monroeville, PA location. 1994: Allegheny Veterinary Emergency Associates (AVEA), an after-hours veterinary emergency clinic in Plum, was founded. 1996: AVEA moved to a nearby independent building on Route 286, transforming into a 24-hour emergency and critical care facility. 2005: AVEA added veterinary specialists and became Avets (Allegheny Veterinary Emergency Trauma & Specialty). 2015: Avets became one of the first 15 hospitals in the country to earn the designation of becoming a VECCS Level 1 emergency and critical care facility. 2019: Avets celebrated 25 years of providing advanced veterinary care. 2021: Avets moved into a brand-new, 19,000 sq. ft. state-of-the-art facility
