After graduating from Penn State University in Animal Science, he went on to get his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania. He practiced large and small animal in Wayne County, Pennsylvania for five years prior to opening the Montoursville Veterinary Hospital in 1991
