Overview

Locally owned and operated since 1988, Centre Animal Hospital in State College, PA is a full service companion animal hospital. We understand the special role your pet plays in your family and are dedicated to becoming your partner in your pet's health care. We treat every client as though they were family and every pet as if they were our own. Our goal is to practice the highest quality medicine and surgery with compassion and an emphasis on client education. Our entire healthcare team is committed to providing personal attention to the unique concerns of each individual pet owner. It is our commitment to provide quality veterinary care throughout the life of your pet. Our services and facilities are designed to assist in routine preventive care for young, healthy pets; early detection and treatment of disease as your pet ages; and complete medical, surgical and dental care as necessary during his or her lifetime. Our facility includes a well-stocked pharmacy, in-hospital surgery suite, in-house x-ray capabilities, a closely supervised hospitalization area and indoor kennels for hospitalized patients

Centre Animal Hospital was founded in 1988 under the ownership of Dr. Mark Michelotti, who developed the practice from a single-doctor clinic into the thriving hospital it is today. In 2017, Dr. Debra Smart and Dr. Renee Calvert purchased the practice from Dr. Michelotti, who retired in June 2020. The practice currently includes more than two dozen team members. Additionally, we began partnering with Dr. Kurt Michelotti of Mobile Veterinary Specialists in August 2020 to offer orthopedic and advanced soft tissue surgeries by referral. In January of 2023, we began a significant renovation of the existing building after 35 years. The existing space nearly doubled as we added additional exam rooms, increased the size of our reception space, moved our office manager's office upstairs, created larger self-contained, areas for our lab and pharmacy, added a second surgical suite as well as a separate one for dentistry, enlarged our doctors' offices, treatment area and much, much more. Our renovation concluded in December, 2024
