Wilde Veterinary Center

Wilde Veterinary Center, LLC, is a full service veterinary medical hospital located on the town square, in historic Waterford, Pennsylvania. Wilde Veterinary Center performs a wide range of medical, diagnostic and surgical services on dogs, cats, and exotic pets. We offer routine preventive care for small animals. These services include: surgery, dentistry, oral surgery, digital radiography, ultrasonography, endoscopy, and full in-house laboratory and diagnostic services

Wilde Veterinary Center, LLC, is a joint venture between Mark Wilde, MS, PhD, DVM and his wife Sally Wilde. Mark and Sally met at Penn State University in 1980, while both were on the Penn State horse judging team. After winning the World Championship Quarter Horse Judging contest at the Quarter Horse World Show, in Oklahoma City in 1981 (the only Penn State team to ever win it!), Mark graduated with honors, and dual degrees in Animal Science and Agricultural Education. Sally graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Agricultural Education. They both taught Agricultural Education at the High School level for two years, and were married in 1983. Mark received a full scholarship to pursue a Master’s Degree in Equine Reproductive Physiology at The University of Connecticut, in Storrs, Connecticut. While in school, Mark and Sally lived and worked at Forest Cabin Farm, a large Quarter Horse show and breeding operation. Mark worked with the breeding program and Sally worked with the show program. While at UCONN, Mark developed an Embryo Transfer program for the University, and produced its first live embryo transfer foal (UC Wilde Mark; named after him). Mark graduated with honors and a 4.0 GPA from UCONN and was offered a full scholarship to pursue a PhD in Reproductive Physiology at The Ohio State University. While at OSU, Mark won the prestigious American Society of Animal Science graduate research paper competition for the best research paper of the year in 1986. Two years into his PhD program Mark was accepted into the Ohio State School of Veterinary Medicine. For two years he both finished his PhD and did his first years of Veterinary School. Mark graduated from his PhD program Summa Cum Laude with a 4.0 GPA and six research publications. While in Columbus, Ohio, Sally ran an Equine Therapy Program for learning disabled children. As a freshman in Veterinary School, Mark won the class award for the top Anatomy scholar out of 128 classmates. While in Senior clinics, Mark won the class award for the top student in Equine Medicine and Surgery. As a senior, Mark won the class award for the top academic performance in the class of 128, graduating Valedictorian, with a 3.93 GPA. After graduation, Mark was offered jobs by the USDA, the FDA, Ohio State University, and numerous private practices but in 1991, Mark and Sally decided to move back to Waterford, PA to be near family. They began Wilde Equine Center, a practice providing ambulatory Equine medicine and Equine Reproductive services. Mark worked at several small animal practices over the years, until demand from his horse clients, to perform small animal work, became large. Mark and Sally set up a small clinic on McGahen Hill, but after three years’ business grew so much that they purchased the “Heard” house on the square in Waterford. The newly renovated, 1908 house, provided much room to grow, with full surgery suites, laboratory, radiology, exam rooms, reception, waiting areas and kennels
