Grand Canyon Veterinary Hospital officially opened its doors on June 30, 2018, at 23 Water Street in downtown Wellsboro, PA. The clinic was built with intention — not only as a place to practice medicine, but as a space where families could feel welcome, heard, and supported. The dream began many years earlier with a small white kitten and a curious child. When Dr. Kristine Shaw was young, her family’s kitten developed ear mites and needed veterinary care. The local veterinarian invited her into the treatment area and showed her the mites under a microscope. That moment sparked something lasting — a realization that veterinary medicine was not only fascinating, but meaningful. She knew then she had found her calling
