South Carolina Equine Associates was founded in 1994 by Dr. Jeffrey Witwer. After years of traveling between Pennsylvania and South Carolina, Dr. Witwer and his colleague Dr. John Herning decided that the area of Camden needed equine veterinarians as more horses were traveling to the area to stay. Since that time, the practice has consistently grown to its current size, which includes six veterinarians and four support staff. Dr. Witwer attests that the sole reason for the success of the practice is due to the knowledge, compassion, and work ethic of the employees, both doctors and office staff. We are one of the few local, ambulatory practices that still provide 24/7 emergency services, which we believe is because our doctors truly care about the well being of our clients horses and want only the best for them. South Carolina Equine provides a large variety of advanced diagnostic services which are done stall-side as opposed to traveling to a clinic. This makes diagnosis and treatment convenient and stress-free for our patients and clients.
