Overview

Cutler Animal Hospital was founded by Charleston native, Dr. Richard Cutler, with a simple image in mind – to serve the veterinary needs of the local community in a friendly, compassionate environment. The facility was designed for veterinary medicine from the ground up, but the real beauty of the clinic lies in its philosophy of treating you and your pets like family. We are privately owned and thus free to practice as we see fit. You will see the same smiling faces every time you step through our doors, and we strive to form relationships with our clients so that we can better meet your unique needs

Cutler Animal Hospital was founded by Charleston native, Dr. Richard Cutler, with a simple image in mind – to serve the veterinary needs of the local community in a friendly, compassionate environment. The facility was designed for veterinary medicine from the ground up. Dr. Cutler graduated from Woodberry Forest School in 2000 then completed an undergraduate degree in history from Davidson College (’04). After a summer of soul searching and watching Red Sox games he decided to pursue a career in veterinary medicine. This led him on his greatest adventure of all – vet school at Massey University in New Zealand. He spent the next 5 wonderful years studying and exploring the country’s amazing natural beauty. Leaving New Zealand and declining a job offer on the South Island was a difficult decision in 2010, but ultimately home and family brought him back to the Lowcountry. After working as an associate veterinarian for seven years, he proudly opened Cutler Animal Hospital in 2018 to serve both new and old clients from the West Ashley, Downtown, Mt. Pleasant, and surrounding areas
