Dr. Heather Caplan Brass was born in Miami Beach and lived in Florida until high school when her family moved to Toms River, New Jersey. She then moved back to Florida attending Eckerd College. She then completed a Masters in Philadelphia at MCP Hahnemann University. Upon completion she moved back to Florida to attend the University of Florida College of Veterinary medicine. Upon graduation Dr. Heather completed an internship focused on horses in Maryland. She then practiced in Richmond, Virginia for 6 years before moving to the Grand Strand in 2012. In 2014, Dr. Heather started Grand Strand Equine, a mobile practice helping horses across Horry County and the surrounding areas. As part of this practice, Dr. Heather started helping pets pass in their homes or at locations special to the owner and their pets. These appointments have become the most fulfilling part of her practice days and she looks forward to expanding her schedule to be able to help more families. In October of 2024 Dr. Heather sold Grand Strand Equine and opened Brass Veterinary Services to help pets pass peacefully at home
