Sturgis Veterinary Hospital & Equine Center first opened its doors in 1952 under the leadership of Dr. J.A. Chamley and his wife, Annie. In 1971, Dr. John Ismay purchased the hospital and guided its growth for many decades. Raised by a ranching family in the high mountains of southwestern Colorado, Dr. Ismay brought a strong work ethic and a forward-thinking vision to the practice. His commitment to advancing equine and companion animal care helped establish the hospital as a high-tech specialty center dedicated to raising the standard of veterinary excellence
