Dr. Merren began his vision to become a veterinarian when very young, assisted his father with horse shoeing, and gained respect for animal husbandry. In middle school, he witnessed a veterinarian euthanize a colicky horse, guiding him to become a veterinarian. He attended Angelo State University for Animal Science, then Texas A&M University School of Veterinary Medicine. After graduating, he worked in mixed animal medicine, small animal emergency, and opened his own equine and food animal mobile practice. He recently returned to Texas and started Bar M Large Animal Veterinary Service
