Dr. Kabita Deka was born in Houston to parents who arrived in the United States from India with little more than a desire to make a family and pursue a better life. She carried their ambition and work ethic into her pursuit of an education and career in veterinary medicine. She earned an undergraduate degree in Biology from Louisiana Tech University before earning her Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine from Tuskegee University in Alabama. Since 2009, she has served at a variety of practices in Austin and Dripping Springs in a range of roles, including relief doctor, emergency care doctor, associate doctor, and most recently, medical director, where she managed the hospital and mentored new doctors. She has a special interest in unique and challenging surgical procedures and internal medicine. In 2019, Dr. Deka and her husband decided to leave the city of Austin for Dripping Springs to start a family and to pursue her dream of privately owning a clinic. Upon her arrival, she secured a piece of land and spent three years planning and constructing a facility to serve the community: Founders Animal Hospital
