Dr. Laura Noaker discovered her calling to help animals as a young girl, when she witnessed a neighborhood cat get run over. At just seven years old, she ran to the injured cat, wishing she could do more, and knew one day she would dedicate her life to caring for animals in need. After serving nine years with the Houston Police Department, earning multiple promotions and commendations, Dr. Noaker pursued her veterinary dreams. She graduated from Texas A&M in 1994 and completed an Internship and Internal Medicine Residency at the University of Pennsylvania by 1997. She is an ACVIM Board Certified Veterinary Internal Medicine Specialist. Laura began working at VERGI as a relief veterinarian before being asked to become Chief of Staff in 2000. At the time, VERGI was only open nights and weekends to care for pets seen earlier in the day by their local veterinarians. Seeing the stress this back-and-forth care placed on sick animals, Laura envisioned a true 24/7 emergency center. In 2006, VERGI became the first 24-hour, 7-days-a-week emergency centers in the Houston area. In 2013, Dr. Noaker purchased VERGI 24/7, continuing her mission to provide compassionate, around-the-clock care to pets and peace of mind to their families
