Purple Cat Vet is a HVHQLC (high-volume-high-quality-low-cost) veterinary clinic providing spays, neuters, and select vaccinations to CATS in Northwest Wisconsin and Eastern Minnesota

In 2017, Dr. Angie Ruppel began assisting a cat colony facing overpopulation by performing low-cost surgeries in collaboration with Northern Lakes Veterinary Clinic in Cumberland. This experience ignited her passion for providing accessible spay and neuter services, leading to the establishment of Purple Cat Vet. With her husband’s support, Dr. Angie launched a mobile surgery unit in 2018, utilizing a trailer towed by an old Suburban. While modest, this setup enabled her to offer affordable spay and neuter services, aiming to reduce the number of homeless and diseased cats. Over time, Purple Cat Vet transitioned from mobile services to establishing MASH (Mobile Animal Surgery Hospital) clinics within animal shelters and humane societies. This approach provided larger spaces for surgeries and enhanced support for the shelters. In 2022, Dr. Angie opened two permanent surgery locations in Eau Claire and Baldwin, Wisconsin. In December 2025, Dr. Angie opened a third permanent location in Hayward, Wisconsin. With these facilities and a dedicated team of skilled veterinarians, certified veterinary technicians, and support staff, Purple Cat Vet now spays and neuters approximately 200 cats each week. As of December 2025, Purple Cat Vet has successfully spayed and neutered over 46,000 cats, significantly contributing to the reduction of feline overpopulation in the region
