Overview

Providing compassionate, specialty care to pets in the Waukesha area. WVRC Waukesha is Waukesha’s 24-hour emergency and specialty animal hospital, providing veterinary specialty and emergency care to Waukesha, Brookfield, New Berlin, and the surrounding southeastern Wisconsin communities. An Ethos Veterinary Health hospital offering cancer treatments, surgery, critical care, and more

The origins of WVRC (Wisconsin Veterinary Referral Center) started with the establishment of the Emergency Veterinary Service in 1981 by a core of area veterinary hospitals. Over the years, other specialty practices joined the Emergency Veterinary Service and formed WVRC – Waukesha in Spring 2000. In February 2008, WVRC expanded its Emergency Services to a second location in Grafton. In February 2013, WVRC added a third location in Racine. Since opening our doors, WVRC has continued to grow to better serve pets and families across southeastern Wisconsin. Our Racine hospital moved into a new, larger, state-of-the-art facility in Somers in 2020, designed to enhance comfort, efficiency, and care. In 2025, both our Waukesha and Grafton locations reached exciting new milestones – Waukesha relocated just minutes away from its previous location, and Grafton moved to Mequon. These larger, modern, easy-to-access facilities are equipped with advanced technology, expanded treatment areas, and upgraded amenities to ensure we can continue providing the highest level of emergency and specialty care for our local pets in need
