Denkai Animal Sanctuary is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization founded in 2004, dedicated to aiding domestic animals in crisis through rescue, rehabilitation, rehoming, and affordable veterinary care
Founded in 2004 by Floss Blackburn, Denkai has grown from the ground up as a grassroots organization. Initially established in Weld County, Colorado, it expanded by acquiring three facilities covering more than 640 acres. In response to growing demand, Denkai relocated to Hesperus and Durango, Colorado. Over more than 20 years, it has provided refuge, medical care, and hope for over 34,000 animals
